CENTENNIAL, Colo. — They are the places we are supposed to feel safe, yet the FBI says 70 percent of active shooter incidents occur at schools or businesses.
On Thursday, a new program opened its doors, focusing on teaching people to protect themselves and others.
The five-day course goes over firearms and defense tactics, and runs participants through real-life scenarios to have practice what they’ve learned.
“I can’t always be with my kids. If I train as many people as I can, then maybe someone can step in and I’d do the same. Strong people make strong communities. That’s where we’re starting,” said Jimmy Graham with the Active Shooter Response Training Center.
Graham is a former Navy SEAL who has also trained federal, state and local law enforcement officers.
